Who We Are
Since its opening, the Alaska Chapter of HOPE worldwide has facilitated a variety of volunteer projects around the state, and it has ongoing projects and programs in Anchorage. In partnership with local organizations, it provides regular service opportunities for volunteers such as renovation projects, community cleanup events, fundraisers, and holiday drives. It has standing partnerships with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Alaska, the Covenant House, and the Anchorage School District’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
What We Do
HOPE worldwide is an international non-profit organization whose vision is simple: “to bring hope and change the lives of the world's most poor, sick and suffering.” HOPE worldwide, Ltd. is a 501(c)(3) charity that has been providing services around the world since 1991. In addition to supporting these goals, the Alaska Chapter of HOPE worldwide localizes the vision to include mobilizing communities to deliver sustainable, high-impact services to the poor and needy of Alaska. The Alaska Chapter has been in operation since 2009.
We believe that true hope and change come through empowerment, not enablement. Some of the major human challenges in Alaska include alcohol and drug abuse, depression and suicide, and the highest school dropout rates in the nation. Our vision is to empower Alaska’s youth and their families to overcome these challenges by engaging them through mentoring, providing positive role models and helping them grow as people. Essentially, we are helping them help themselves. Volunteers construct the foundation of all of our programs and services—because strong communities are built upon themselves.
