Who We Are
It is the mission of Equine Assisted Therapy Alaska to bring the benefits of therapeutic equine-assisted activities and therapies to children, adults, and veterans living with disabilities in the Anchorage area. Located at the William Clark Chamberlin Equestrian Center on Abbott Road, EATA has served the Anchorage community since 1983. Alaska’s foremost therapeutic riding center provides equine-assisted therapies and treatments to children and adults with physical, emotional, and cognitive disorders in an open setting outside of the normal clinic environment. EATA’s “Freedom Reins” program provides equine-assisted therapy to address specific issues faced by wounded military personnel. Equine assisted therapy is a growing and widely accepted treatment for rehabilitating a range of physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Being in charge of a horse builds confidence and self-esteem, and provides a level of independence for participants.
