Alaska World Affairs Council

Present world-class speakers on a variety of key global issues at regular luncheon and evening programs.

The Alaska World Affairs Council is a focused educational organization dedicated to stimulating interest in world affairs and inspiring its members to be involved in world events. The Council strives to provide the population with a wide spectrum of viewpoints and information while not taking a stand on current-day issues, guided by the conviction that better community education in world affairs is necessary for sound democratic citizenship.

We aim to educate Alaskans about world issues and engage the community in meaningful dialogue. We seek active and enthusiastic volunteers to encourage and cultivate interest in the Council’s global conversations.

We believe that each additional mind in the room inevitably contributes to new ideas. The Council welcomes new perspectives and input from a broad spectrum of community members as we continue to present our traditional speaker programs and explore new opportunities for outreach growth.

Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. As such, they help to broaden the Council’s educational impact on Alaska by introducing our global programs to their respective communities.
