The Salvation Army is dedicated to caring for the poor, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, loving the unlovable, and befriending the friendless. This dedication has produced an international network of helpful ministries.
The Salvation Army's ministry in Alaska began in 1898 and quickly spread throughout communities in Southeast Alaska. By the 1950's, the Army's ministry had expanded north, to serve the needs of individuals in communities, including Anchorage and Fairbanks.
