United Way of Anchorage is looking for volunteers to help distribute door hangers around Anchorage in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. During this day of service on Monday, Jan. 17, team up and help spread information about Alaska 2-1-1, the free and confidential resource for finding help.  

Martin Luther King Day is the only federal holiday designated as a day of service. It calls people from all walks of life to work together to improve lives and our community.

Volunteers will be outside and should dress for the weather; United Way will provide hot cocoa and coffee.   

Requirements: 

- Requires prolonged standing, walking, some bending, stooping, stretching, navigating neighborhoods.
- Ability to tolerate climate and environmental conditions (snow, ice).

Inclement Weather Plan: We will be heading out unless the roads are unmanageable. Volunteers will be outside and should dress for the weather. If cancellation is needed, you will be notified by the number provided.
