HOPE worldwide - Alaska Chapter is proud to host its third annual Hoops for HOPE fundraiser! This year, we are raising funds for the Gateway to the Arctic Camp: A Camp for Growth, which is a brand-new camp near Talkeetna Alaska that will serve disadvantaged youth. The camp will be an agricultural-based, service-oriented camp that teaches youth all about how food goes from a seed to the dinner table, all the while teaching participants about environmental sustainability, the value of strong character, and the significance of service to those in need.
This year's Hoops for HOPE event will take place on Saturday, May 10, and it will include an 8-hour marathon basketball game at the Muldoon Community Center Boys and Girls Club, followed by a talent show and silent auction at UAA's Fine Arts Building Recital Hall. Basketball players are seeking sponsors that are willing to support the cause and donate to support the camp. Donations can be made at http://www.razoo.com/team/Hoops-For-Hope-2014.
The basketball game will take place from 9am-5pm at the Muldoon Community Center Boys and Girls Club, and then the silent auction will begin at 6pm at the UAA Fine Arts Building and run through the talent show and until 10pm. The talent show will take place from 7pm - 9pm. It will be a great, family-friendly event for all!
