Initiative:
Initiative Description: The Cradle to Career Anchorage initiative is a public-private partnership that works to ensure that at every stage of development, Anchorage children and youth are safe, healthy, and nurtured by family and community to thrive. By providing resources, connections, and community, we eliminate disparate outcomes for Anchorage families, especially those furthest from opportunity, so that every child may reach their full potential.
Purpose:
The purpose of this volunteer assignment is to provide support in creating a welcoming and fun guest experience, while remaining professional and respectful of all event staff, guests, and partner agencies as a United Way of Anchorage representative. Requires great interpersonal and communication skills.
Physical Conditions:
- Requires prolonged standing, walking, some bending, stooping, stretching.
- Manual dexterity, ability to lift 25-40 pounds,
- Ability to tear down set up quickly
- Ability to follow pre-determined directions and read event layout diagrams.
- Ability to tolerate climate and environmental conditions (snow, ice).
- Includes event environments, involving contact with the public, which may be stressful at times and may involve dealing with angry, confused or upset people
Key Responsibilities:
- Duties may also include anchoring tents, tables and chairs set up
- Signage Set Up and Tear Down Description: setting up and placing event signage, booth numbers and directional signs in pre-determined areas
- remove signage at the close of the event for disposal or storage.
- Duties may also include placement and set up of trash receptacles.
- Provide superior customer service to all patrons at informational resources
- Provide information about the event and cradle to career program.
