United Way of Anchorage will be needing volunteer support for the United Way of Anchorage Read United Book Drive that will provide free reading material for children and young adults in Anchorage at a fall event, with the intent of encouraging a love of reading, fostering increased literacy, and promoting the Cradle to Career Anchorage initiative. Volunteer opportunities include sorting donated books by youth age level in preparation for August event, potentially replenish Little Free Libraries around town, participate in book drive events.
Initiative description: Cradle to Career Anchorage is communitywide partnership working to build a solid foundation for success for every child to be healthy, capable, and confident. This can only be achieved through engagement with Anchorage families with lived experience and the entire Anchorage community.

Qualifications & Requirements:
· Enthusiasm for building literacy
· Commitment to a regular schedule
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to carry up to 20lbs.
· Ability to assess material and make decisions about book categorization
· Ability to stand for prolonged period, walk, bend, stoop, stretch
